Day 22 - Back to Paris

Despite our desire to see more of London, it was time for us to depart and head back across the channel to Paris.  We made our way to St Pancras Station via the tube with little problem.  We had a fair amount of time to kill so were able to enjoy architecture of the station and also see Kings Cross just across the street, which was also made famous by JK Rowling in her Harry Potter series.  We made it a point to seek out track 9 3/4 from which Harry departed to go to Hogwarts.  Sure enough, Gail managed to find it.

In an earlier entry to the blog, I may have sounded a bit disparaging about the EuroStar.  On the way back, I got to experience it for a second time and this time I found it very satisfactory.  I opened up an app on my iPhone that provides speed and direction and altitude in real time.  I was very surprised at how smooth and quiet the ride was as we clocked 175 to 190 mph.  Quite impressive.  Flat Stanley was impressed too and he was extra flat due to the speed of the train.

Long story short, we made it back to chez Gabay without problems and reassumed our secret French identities. --John

Added by Gail: The RER train back home from Gare du Nord at rush hour was quite an experience. Do we look like sardines to you? We felt like Flat Stanley as we were so squished up!  I'll stop complaining now. London was a truly amazing side trip.
