Day 2: Off to a great start!

Arrived at the apartment about 7 pm Friday to a warm and balmy evening. The flights were on time, but sure wish we had the resources to fly other than economy. Every airline exec should be made to sit in an economy seat for 11 hrs with the seat in front of them at maximum recline. One must be a contortionist just to get in and out of the seat! I felt like a calf being raised in a confined pen waiting to become someone's sumptuous veal piccata! Enough complaining!

Our apartment here is delightful and comfortable. We wandered around the neighborhood a bit and found many wonderful places. Hope they're open today! Some are closed for Paris residents' mass departure for the month of August for vacation. More later when I'm more awake and alert.

Noon Saturday: More awake, but hardly alert. It takes all I have to think in French! My old brain just isn't capable of what it used to be.  John, however, is wisely unconcerned with the language barrier and cheerfully and successfully hunted down our noontime meal of croissants au chocolates and croissants avec du raisins. Yum! That and tea and espresso have helped a lot! We slept about 12 hrs last night, which was most welcome. Today is going to be a quiet one with unpacking and a walkabout through the quartier. (No photos today--we look too exhausted!)
